Most people give out wedding gifts that the future husband and wife can use together for their new house or their new life together. In most cases, this are kitchen appliances and home items that normally, only the bride can appreciate. And I’ve always wondered if people ever thought about giving individual gifts instead? You know something that the bride and groom will both like, but like separately.

I don’t mean similar items like two towels with their names engraved on it. I meant a totally different gift for the groom and the bride.

For instance, would it be so bad if you gave the groom a Black Face Silver-Plated Pocket Watch and then give the bride her own set of jewelry? Would that go against tradition and would that not be taken with positive feedback?

I’ve always wanted to try doing this, what with the many weddings I attend on a regular basis, but on the last minute, I would always end up buying some kitchen gadget, which I know the wife will have more use for than the husband.

Have you ever considered individual gifts for the bride and groom? And what was their reaction when they got your gifts?
