Futon Bunk Bed

A western style futon is a sofa that folds down into a  bed.  The futon itself is a thin mattress and resembles an eastern style futon.  What is nice about the futon bunk bed is that it can be folded into a sofa when not in use as a bed.  The top part of the bunk bed will always be a twin bed.  The bottom part of the futon bunk bed can either be a sofa or a full bed.  When used as a bed, the futon bunk bed is a twin over full bunk bed.  When not in use, the bottom bunk can be folded into use as sofa for watching television or entertaining friends.  Many older children like the idea of these bunkbeds even if they do not share a room with siblings because this saves space and gives them the opportunity to have a sofa in their room. 

If they have friends over and need extra sleeping space, the futon bunk bed can be folded down to allow for the extra bed.  This is a nice alternate to an ordinary bed in a child’s bedroom. 

Full Over Full Bunk Bed

The full over full bunk bed is popular with parents who realize that their children will outgrow their twin beds when they become teenagers and long for a full bed on which to sleep.  The full over full bunk bed involves two full sized beds vertically stacked with one another.  They are usually made of a metal frame and have a ladder leading to the second bunk.  They are just like the twin over twin bunk bed only they both have a full mattress.  This makes sleeping more comfortable for the older children. 

When you are shopping for bunkbeds, you have a myriad of different choices.    Bunkbeds should be considered whenever you are looking for a bed for your children, especially younger children.  They are economical and are usually a great favorite with kids of all ages. 

You can have double the sleeping space in one room by installing bunkbeds instead of just single beds in the room.  If you opt for wooden bunkbeds that have drawers on the bottom, you can save even more space.  Even if your child does not have any brothers or sisters that he plans to share the room with, you should still think about the future, the possibility of overnight guests and the fact that your child will probably enjoy sleeping in bunkbeds more than he or she will enjoy sleeping in an ordinary bed.
